Chelsea Wins the 2019 Europa League Final

Arsenal Falls Short in Baku

Hazard Scores Twice as Blues Claim Trophy

In a historic match between London rivals, Chelsea emerged victorious in the 2019 Europa League final, defeating Arsenal 4-1 at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The victory marked the first trophy for Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and extended the Blues' dominance in UEFA competitions.

The match was the 198th competitive meeting between the two clubs, with Arsenal holding a 76-63-58 advantage going into the match. However, Chelsea proved to be the stronger side on this night, controlling possession and creating numerous chances throughout the contest.

Eden Hazard, who was in scintillating form throughout the tournament, put Chelsea ahead in the 45th minute with a well-taken penalty. Arsenal equalized just after halftime, but Chelsea went ahead for good in the 65th minute when Hazard scored his second goal of the match.

Chelsea extended their lead in the 72nd minute through Pedro, who converted a cross from Willian. Olivier Giroud added a fourth goal in the 89th minute to round out the scoring and seal Chelsea's victory.

The win gave Chelsea their second Europa League title in four seasons and their third major European trophy overall. It also marked the first time that an English club had won both the Europa League and the Champions League in the same season.
