Nearly a month away, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will host Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other officials to discuss the state's preparations for the 2024 solar eclipse. In a press release, the governor announced that she has declared a state of emergency ahead of the celestial event, releasing funds to enhance security and infrastructure.
Governor Sanders emphasized the significance of the eclipse, stating, "We expect a record-breaking number of tourists to visit our state, and we are committed to ensuring their safety and creating a memorable experience." To this end, the governor has directed law enforcement agencies to increase their presence along key routes and viewing areas, with a roughly two-to-one ratio of cameras to officers being deployed.
